It's the Birthday Boy!

Happy 5th Birthday to me
I've pee'd up a tree
 Beer and Wotsits for brekkie
I'm so very happeeeee!!!

Hello everyone! Today is my 5th birthday and my first one ever since I left the racing kennels and came to live with my Mums! It's still really early in the day, and already I'm having a great time...

Mum has made me these delicious Pumpkin & Parsley Pasties! My good mate Higgins sent us the recipe.

Oooh they are nice.... better save some for later though.... you never know who might call in.... with a present or something!

I've had lots of cards and presents already! Two of the cards have cats on them. Very funny. Not. Can you see my fiver from Ganny at the front? Good ol' Ganny; I knew she wouldn't let me down! I'll be able to buy, more gravy bones and paddywack and pigs ears and tripe sticks and........

Really I'm going to get the subscription to "Bitchz Magazeen" but don't tell Mum......or Beryl. hehe!

Mums bought Mr Tigger for me (yet another of my original names!)

I hope he doesn't think he's sleeping in here with me all the time......

I'll just show him who's in charge.......

Mum says we can do anything I like today.... so rather typically after over a week of beautiful weather, it is raining cats & dogs!........ Now wouldn't that be something? Raining cats, just like ALL my birthdays had come at once..... Oh sorry Mum. Didn't realise you were listening. You want me to apologise to The Princess of Darkness? On my birthday? Muuuuuuuum!

Maybe I just should of had the 1 beer with breakfast.... hehe!

Have a very Happy Birthday Hunky!
We love you very very much.
Your Mums xx

On a different note, Monday 4th June is Pitty Post Day hosted by Corbin
Pitty Post Day is hoping to show everyone what great dogs Pit Bulls are and to show how discrimination against so called "dangerous dogs" is misguided and unfair.

As part of the day, Corbin has kindly joined me to highlight the work the RSPCA is doing in the UK with the 42 Teeth Campaign which attempts to tackle the issues of "dangerous" dogs and irresponsible ownership. The UK government is reviewing current legislation and there is an opportunity for UK citizens to respond to the consultation.

Please call in to Corbin's blog today to find out how to support a Pitty and don't forget to visit me on Monday. You could help end discrimination and the needless suffering of so many dogs.

Thanks everyone.

The Yorkshire Dales

Mum came back from Ganny's to spoil our fun last Thursday so her and Other Mum decided to take me on a trip on Friday as the weather was surprisingly good. It's always surprising when the weather is good in the UK; it's considered nothing short of a miracle in Yorkshire!

We went a little way north from where we live into the Yorkshire Dales National Park  The National Park was established in 1954 and covers 680 square miles covering the central Pennines, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. We went to Kilnsey Park which is a fishing, trails and nature park set in a beautiful location.

We went for a walk around the lakes. They are stocked with trout and you can see people fishing in some of the photos.

I was a bit hot and tired after that, so we found a nice shady place for a picnic.

...And no more comments about pistols and holsters please...ahemm...

We fed the ducks. Bottoms Up!!
And said hello to a passing Goose
Mum... either you're holding the camera at a funny angle, or I'm about to slide into the lake!
It's great here isn't it Mums?! Hehe!

Before we left Mums went into the farm shop and bought some oak smoked trout. We brought it home and all three of us had it for dinner! (I did offer KC some but she said she preferred canned tuna..)

What a lovely day. I'm not sure it gets much better than this!!

On a sad note, I just wanted to mention that my mate Kai had to be put to sleep yesterday. He was quite old and hadn't been well for a while but we were still very sad to hear the news and our thoughts are with his Mum, my Aunty Lou who will miss him more than words can say.

Run free little fella. I bet that right now you're running around like a young pup with your Dada and Flynny!

Today it is 1 year since we lost our wonderful boy Flynn
We miss you every day big fella. We always will.

Rest in peace mate.
Hope Wamster isn't giving you too much of a hard time.....

...He still hadn't forgotten this.......

Not that I'm hinting........

As some of you will know, I have been abandoned left in the tender care of Other Mum for a few days whilst Mum is staying with Ganny. In all fairness, I am having a lovely time. I am being fed from the table, allowed to lie on Mums sofa and Other Mum hasn't put the vacuum on once.... but only because I don't like it, obviously...hmmm.

What's that Other Mum? If I don't stop dropping you in it, I will be fed gruel for the rest of the week and made to sleep in the garage? Consider my lips sealed, in that case!

Other Mum hasn't been feeding me snacks at all Mum...honest!

So I suppose it's not that bad staying at home....... except for one thing. In just over a weeks time it will be MY 5th BIRTHDAY!! and the first one I've ever spent with my Mums. Family legend has it that Ganny always gave Uncle Flynn £5 on his birthday, so I know she'll want to do the same for me, but what am I going to do if I'm not there to collect it?!

I've thought and I've thought and then thought some more......

What Ganny needs is a list so that she can buy something for me....!

Taaaa Daaaaa!

I don't want to appear pushy and rude, so I subtly placed my list in Mum's bag just before she left........

I'll just have to cross my paws and hope now........

Who could resist someone this smug handsome, after all........!

P.S. KC and I have been participating in SARGE-A-LICIOUS'  nickname game and our the names chosen by our readers are.....

The Princess of Darkness for the evil one and...

Hunky for yours truly... suits me don't you think he he he

anyway, for this week we are only meant to be called those names.... though I expect that Other Mum may forget and call The Princess of Darkness 'Little Sh*te' if she bites her in the middle of the night again!

Power of the Pumpkin......

Before I begin I should say to the Americans (possibly Canadians and other more-enlightened-than-my-Mum people) amongst you, that you might want to leave now and do something more useful, like have a cup of tea. If you carry on, I guarantee you will be saying "WTF! Like we didn't know all of this already!"

However, I do like to think of it as an example of international friendship, help and cooperation. A bit like the United Nations... or not. But if you are still here Friends Across The Pond, you have been warned!

I need to back track a little, so if you know all of this (or are having your breakfast) I apologise.

Following a very nasty intestinal bug I caught last October, I have suffered periodically from the dreaded EB (Exploding Bum Issues) The V-E-T did tests &  Mums have done lots of trials with various foods - adding and excluding and we can't come up with anything specific that upsets me. It would seem that having the bug for several weeks has left me with a delicate tummy (IBS has been mentioned) and every now and then - about every 6-8 weeks it flairs up without warning. It never makes me feel ill, anxious or loose my appetite and only lasts 3-4 days, but my bum does cause  chaos!

Mum has mentioned my problem to blogging friends before and almost everyone from across the pond who felt able to offer advice told us to try canned pumpkin as something to eat during the flair-ups, as it calms and soothes the tummy.

Here in the UK canned pumpkin is not easy to come by (unless you know different!) but if anyone is interested, the only place we found it was Waitrose. You can order it on Amazon, but you have to pay postage too. Make sure you get the pure pumpkin puree not the pumpkin pie filling.

Anyway, my latest EBS happened a couple of weeks ago and Mum remembered she had bought some canned pumpkin for me to try the next time it happened.

As I said, it doesn't make me feel unwell, but who is going to turn their nose up at a bit of cosseting?!

When it happens Mum usually starves me for 24 hours (actually that does make me feel bad!) and then feeds me chicken and potatoes (mashed with just water) and porridge. Rice doesn't seem to help matters much with me. This time she gave me one meal of just pumpkin, then mixed with mash potato and then gradually introduced my regular (salmon & potato) kibble. There was a distinct improvement in my...errrr... productions within 24 hours and Mum was delighted not to come downstairs in the morning to another "pile of presents" on the kitchen floor!

"It's not bad this pumpkin stuff is it?"

Pumpkin obviously can't cure any underlying issue, but Mum does think it's one of the most effective foodstuffs to give me when I'm not well.

So thank you Friends in America! Be proud that you have saved one very small corner of England from my exploding bum. Hehe!

I may be incommunicado for a few days, as Mum is combining a visit to Ganny's (it was Ganny's birthday yesterday!) with getting Other Mum's car fixed. Some "!*c^*$g b%"*^"d" hit Other Mum's car in the night last time it snowed. There is a great big dent in the door. Other Mum was not happy; this is the second time it has happened. Our drive is very steep, so sometimes Mums park their cars on the road when it snows, but they've said never again!

Anyway, I digress. What I meant to tell you is that Mum is not taking me to Ganny's AGAIN! She said Other Mum's car is too small to fit me in, and Other Mum said something like "I'm not having that bl**dy dog anywhere near my seatbelts". I wonder what she could possibly mean?! So.... I am staying at home with Other Mum. I'm hoping she may help me with some blogging, but I expect The Princess of Darkness is more likely to be giving her ridiculous opinions on me things. If you don't hear from me for a week, you know what's happened!

She Loves Me.....Yeah Yeah Yeah!

I wasn't going to write a post today, but I am sooo excited, I just can't help myself......

This is me being excited.

This is me being asleep.

The differences are quite subtle, but trust me, I am excited. You want to know why? Well, my love Beryl  has written to me to say that she still loves me!!!

For those of you that don't know the beautiful Beryl, we have been... ahem... "an item" since Valentines Day this year....

Pretty cool way of getting the girl don't you think?!

Beryl, her Mum Sue and brother Frankie have been really busy over the past couple of months because they have just moved house. Couple that with all the work Sue has  had to do to get the house and garden safe for Beryl and Frankie and all the wonderful work they do for Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) in New Zealand, they just haven't had time to blog!

There were some who said our relationship would never work, not with 11508 miles between us, and others who were too quick to judge my friendship with Puddles.

Whatever anyone says, Puddles and I have never shared more than a 4 crates of beer and 28 bags of Cheetos....

My heart belongs to Beryl.....

And now she has said she still loves me, and that I shouldn't believe any of the rumours about her and Stanley either!

Ears? What ears?!

Isn't she beautiful?! This is a photo that she has sent to me so that I do not forget her loveliness.

Thank you Beryl; you have made me one happy boy!

Sue and the gang hope they may be able to return to blogging in the near future, though things are still pretty hectic at the moment. Keep an eye open for them at Greyhounds CAN Sit, you'll love their blog I'm sure!

What's In a Name.....?

AS many of you will know, Sarge is having a competition called The Nickname Game. Here are the rules..

After the event ends, I will post a list showing all of the pawticipants and their winning nicknames.  All of the nicknames will be entered in a random drawing.

Well, you've just got to haven't you?! I mean who wouldn't want the world to know all the ridiculous and embrrassing endearing names their hoomans call them? If there was ever any doubt that my Mums are nutters, there won't be after this!
